Federal Skilled Trades Program

Eligibility Requirements:

In order to apply for the Federal Skilled Trades Program, you must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:

    1. have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience)* in a skilled trade within the five years before you apply,
    2. meet all job requirements for the job that you are applying,
    3. have a full-time job offer for a period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a provincial or territorial body.

In order to qualify for the Federal Skilled Trades Program you must meet the minimum requirements in one of Canada’s two native languages, English and French. You will be required to take a test in either English or French and you must receive a minimum score in order to be eligible for the program.

Please Note: The Federal Skilled Trades Program only applies to applicants who wish to immigrate to Ontario.

Applicants for the Federal Skilled Trades Program must be in an occupation which falls under one of the skilled trades according to the National Occupation Classification (NOC) requirements. Click on one of the following two links to see a list of qualified skilled trades
